social security benefits,
which include spends of social assistance,
unemployment loans and free health care for
those who are older than 65 years old in the
MEDIcaRE.
Social insurance numbers, health care plans,
MEDIcaRE, HMO, PPO, EPO, and POS.
Health care in the United States of america,
is not a public need to be attended by the
Government, but an individual right of every
citizen or resident immigrant, as far as
they pay it, for the high costs that it
implies, due to the high quality of the
medical care provided by the private medical
insurances, in other words, health care
corresponds to private companies.
|
|
 |
For free health care, there are only two
options, MEDIcaRE, which is intended for
adults that are older than 65 years old and
that, during their working life, contributed
with the american social security; and the
MEDIcaID, which is directed to people of
extreme poverty conditions.

It is not among the
obligations of the american citizens and
resident immigrants to have a private health
insurance, but, however, every employer who
has a contract for more than 32 hours must
have health policy insurance.
The medial health insurance
has a monthly installment that must be paid
by the worker during the time in which he or
she would want to have a private operator.
besides, this insurance is available for an
amount of money which has to be previously
stated in the contract and the coverage and
treatments must also be defined previously.
It annually allows medical checkups and
medical revisions with the ophthalmologist,
gynecologist, and dentist. This covers the
direct family also (wife and kids).
The main health care plans are: the Health
Maintenance Organization (HMO), the
Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and
the Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO),
each of them with their own characteristics:
 Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), its
assistance consists in choosing a family
doctor from a list of providers and he or
she, can transfer you with a specialist
doctor inside the net.
 Preferred Provider Organization (PPO),
allows access to medical services and to
hospitals that belong to its net., offering
discounts in the attention for the insured.
It recognizes care and payments outside from
its net.
 Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO),
allows the same that the PPO, but with
bigger discounts. It does not recognize
attentions or payment outside form the
system.
There are other systems, such as the Point
of Service (POS), which is a combination of
HMO and PPO, meaning that you can choose a
family doctor, and also get outside from the
net., but it will only recognize the
payments if the family doctor has
transferred you to outside of its net.
To be able of participate from the benefits
of the social security, the immigrants
require to be previously authorized to work
in North american territory by the
Immigration Service, which will allow them
to get a Social Security card, whose number
will help them to be identified, to access
to a job and to perform many procedures.
Every North american worker, in some stage
of his or her life, accesses to the benefits
of social security. The responsible for its
management is the Social Security
administration (SSa).
The social securitys coverage includes
handicapped people, retired people and the
beneficiaries of the entitled person. The
benefits it provides, consist in social
assistance spends, loans for unemployment
and free health care known as MEDIcaRE.
If you are a dependent worker, the 7.65% of
your salary is discounted to pay your right
to social security and to the States
medical insurance (MEDIcaRE), your employer
contributes with a similar percentage. If
you are an independent worker or you work on
your own, you assume both percentages.
Summing up, the resident immigrant is,
indeed, authorized to work, has a social
security number, which will allow him or her
to access to any of the existent health care
plans and to the social security benefits.
