What is malware?
Malware, also
known as damaging codes, are programs that
have as a purpose to harm your PC or simply
to spy
the users, verifying the routine
they follow whenever entering the PC, the
web sites they enter at, and all of this,
without letting the user now. The term
malware is used to generalize over all this
type of software;
it includes all the programs with this
objective, like
Trojans, famous for easily
entering into PCs, and even
Spyware,
which verify all our private information. |
|
|
There are many types of
malware, among the most common or most known we can find
computing viruses,
worms, Trojans, Spyware
programs and also adware; all of them act in different ways, but
they all share the same purpose, to cause some sort of damage
over the users
computer.
For example: computing viruses
act in a way in which the normal functioning of the PC is
affected, they camouflage themselves into executable files and
what they do is destroy part of the operative system, or just
block the net that is been used.
Unlike computing viruses, worms are able of multiplying by
themselves and what they do is to occupy a great amount of the
system resources, resources such as the virtual memory, among
others.

|
another type of malware are the Trojans, these
harmful programs are hosted in computers and what they do is
allow the access of a foreign user, making him or her able of
checking all the private information and data of the computer
the virus is installed at. |
|
 |
as we can see, all these
malware programs attack in different way, but the purpose is
always the same, try to damage the computer of some user or to
obtain certain private information; for example, Spyware gathers
all the information stored in the victims
hard drive, it can also be
from the Web itself, and then distribute it among companies that
are interested in peoples preferences. |

To protect ourselves from this little programs,
but great in causing problems, it is important to take into
consideration some precautions when surfing the Web, and it is
also important to be protected against any external device, such
as flash drives or compact discs, another method to be protected
against malware is to use operative systems that are not that
vulnerable to infection.
For example, the most vulnerable one is
Windows, this is why it is
recommended to use Linus, Mac OS
or FreebSD; but if you are using Windows, the best thing you can
do is to be up to date with the updates and security patches of
your system, it is also advised to keep yourself from
downloading programs from unknown origins or from web sites that
do not offer any type of guarantee. |
|
another very important aspect is to have
installed an anti virus software
that is able of fight against or block malwares;
Spyware blaster and
SPY bOT search and destroy,
are specialized in this, because they not only analyze the PC,
but they also have an activated firewall, in a way that it is
impossible for an external user to see any private information,
like our phone numbers or address, and even our bank accounts,
of course this will only be helpful when we have our anti
virus software updated and we do not let aside a conscious
search method while we surf in the web.
