bluetooth :
bluetooth is an
IEEE 802.15.1 industrial specification,
which has been defined as the global
standard in wireless communication in the
personal area (WPans). |
|
|
This type of connection
allows the exchange of signals such as voice
transmission, data exchange and data
transmission through a safe radio frequency,
which happens to be universally free (2.4
GHz), but it has a very short wave of reach,
currently, around 30 meters.
The name that was chosen for this type of
wireless connection was based in the name of
an ancient Danish and Norwegian king named
Harold bluetooth, who was known for been an
excellent communicator and who accomplished
to unify the different Norwegian, Sweden and
Danish tribes of his time. In 1993, the Sony
Ericsson company, started different
researches to be able to find a new
communications interface which could be
really simple, that had a low consume and
that was cheap, to transmit data between
little devices such as
cell phones, Palms
and HandDesk. |
|
Thanks to what they found, in
the year 1999, a new group was created so
they could develop the project; this group
was called bluetooth SIG (Special Interest
Group), which consisted in the union of many
companies that were interested in the new
technological advances, such as
Ericsson,
Intel,
Nokia,
Toshiba and
IbM. but after a
while, more companies joined the union to
support this new type of connection, among
them we can find Microsoft, 3COM,
Motorola
and Lucent; thanks to this new company
alliance, they made this technology a
reality. |
|
 |
The
objectives that these companies wanted
to achieve were the following:
Make easier the communication between mobile
or steady devices, eliminating any kind of
wire or cable and / or connection cable;
also, offering the possibility of creating
little wireless nets and facilitate the
synchronization of data among our personas
portable devices. |
This new technology works through a protocol
called bluetooth, thanks to this it
is possible that devices can communicate between them inside a
maximum reach point, this is made through a radiofrequency, in a
way in which the devices does not need to be aligned to be able
to capture the signal, it is up to the power of the signal.
There are different kinds of bluetooth
devices, which can be from Class 1., Class 2. And Class
3., these go from 1 meter to up to a little bit more of 100
meters, among their primordial specifications we can see that
they have a 720 kb / s maximum canal, with an optimum range of
10 meters. |
|
The traffic frequency that it uses is placed in a
range of 2.4 to 2.48 GHz, with a wide specter and jumps on its
frequency, which is contained in a total of 79 frequencies with
1 MHz intervals, any device that can fulfill these
specifications.
The bluetooth technology must have a
radio device, which is the one in charge of transmitting the
signal, also, it must have a digital controller, which is
composed by a digital signal controller and a CPU without
forgetting the different interfaces with the host device.
